Re: Loss & BER Not Showing on Dashboard

The values, when present, come from the /var/log/pi-star/MMDVM-YYYY-MM-DD.log. Anything written to that log comes from the underlying MMDVMHost demon process. (Pi-star is only a front-end to configure that demon, and display what the demon puts in the log.) The issue is that not every mode writes Lo...

Re: Reboot with a specific mmdvm config

Such a feature would, I agree, be nice. There would be great benefit to: A.) "Create" a new (fresh) config B.) "Clone" an existing config to a new copy (which the user could then modify without risk to the original config) C.) "Modify" the new config D.) "Select&qu...

Re: The security of the DMR repeater from unregistered users.

It seems to me, that this is something the underlying MMDVMHost service would have to handle, not the pi-star GUI. Pi-star's configuration page allows setting/configuring the features of daemons and services that lie "underneath" pi-star (such as the main MMDVMHost daemon that is the "...

The dashboard's "Gateway Activity" section, where the call history is displayed, is just parsing the /var/log/pi-star/MMDVM*.log file. If you were to run the command "tail -f /var/log/pi-star/MMDVM*.log", you would see what the web page is working from.

Re: Don't overwrite TGList_BM.txt without first checking if update successful

Found (now fixed) a pretty good typo in the check... I was checking that the output file was larger than 16 chars, and not 16 lines... well yeah. Now fixed, should not happen again. Sweet. Thanks. Yeah, I had noticed the problem last night, when the contents of TGList_BM.txt was replaced with "...

Re: Don't overwrite TGList_BM.txt without first checking if update successful

The hostfiles are not coming from BM, they are coming from Andys pistar.uk server. The pistar.uk server should always contain a full list, so apparently there is a problem with the server talking to BM. Andy will get it sorted, then everything will fall into line automatically. I understand that th...

Don't overwrite TGList_BM.txt without first checking if update successful

One of the files that pi-star updates is /usr/local/etc/TGList_BM.txt. However, when BM doesn't respond for whatever reason, pi-star overwrites the current TGList_BM.txt file with a stub containing only the error message "Unable to communicate with the BrandMeister API :(". It would be bet...

Re: Add support for the "priority=" field in wpa_supplicant.conf

Consider the following snippets from the man pages... This first is what everyone thinks of when they assert that order in the file is the be-all/end-all solution... NETWORK BLOCKS Each potential network/access point should have a "network block" that describes how to identify it and how t...

Re: Add support for the "priority=" field in wpa_supplicant.conf

The problems are these: If no "priority" field is listed, simple order of stanzas within the file is no guarantee that the correct/desired/intended network will be the one actually chosen by the selection algorithm (which is not controllable via pistar). Other factors outside of the user's...
