Re: DMR Gateway for a dumb smart person

Brandmeisters connection, I would HAVE to use TG 9 to talk (just like using TG6 for XLX) and would use a different TG to change talk groups? Meaning for example, I would have to program something like 40310 into my radio in order to switch to TG 310? I was hoping to leave Brandmeisters operation fr...

Re: mmdvm's connect ok and after a period of days or hours ignore pi-star.local access

At 1335 MST I power cycled the DMR mmdvm, but not the YSF one. Then I rebooted the router. After the leisurely reboot, both mmdvm's again respond like they should. Which behavior sure seems to point to a problem with the /router/, not the Pi-Star boxes. If both boxes became "live" after a router re...

Re: mmdvm's connect ok and after a period of days or hours ignore pi-star.local access

The only known criteria for R-Pi is that the 4B requires Pi-Star 4.1.x (it needs the base Debian Buster release of Raspbian for boot support). It may be that 3B+ also needs 4.1.x (I don't recall if Jessie was viable on 3B+; Jessie being what Pi-Star 3.x is based upon). The Pi-Zero should support any...

Re: Not receiving signal

So what that means is our radio is simply not programmed correctly. You don't have it set to listen to the response. You can do this a number of different ways, the easiest is to just turn on promiscuous mode that way your radio will always listen to every transmission, no matter which group is is ...

Re: mmdvm's connect ok and after a period of days or hours ignore pi-star.local access

When trying to access pi-starX.local (X being the number assigned to each), or directly to each mmdvm's assigned IP address, I get the dreaded timeout message. When this disappearance happens, have you tried to access the dashboard using the IP number itself? Have you connected to the /router/ stat...

Re: Not receiving signal

As advised I have removed completely the existing code plug, set up a private call for 9990 keyed it up, although it shows up, I got no reply. Where TG1 comes from I don’t know as I’ve never entered it to any code plug I’ve tried to use. I have noticed the DMR drops out on my admin page, I’m on WiF...

Re: DMR Talk Group Setup

The Yeasu is a system-fusion radio and requires use of the cross-mode feature of Pi-Star system to work DMR. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=10&ved=2ahUKEwiixZPU24_mAhUELKwKHWKyCy4QFjAJegQIAxAC&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.gulfcoastradio.net%2FYSF2DMR.pdf&usg=AOvVaw17qANjfcQQPR...

Re: Tether tablet to MMDVM NOT MMDVM to tablet

I suspect one key to look for is if the tablet support USB OTG https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USB_On-The-Go -- that, at least, would imply it can be either host or slave device... But yes -- network tethering may be another factor; I'm not familiar with tablets or phones that can tether to another de...

Re: No d star after I changed from a iPhone 6 to an 8

DVAP hooked up to pi-star. Where can I find the new IP address? It’s an ICOM 880h and it was working perfectly the day before I switched phones. I used to enter 172.20.10.3 and it would hookup to the pi-star dashboard. Also the phone does show the blue bar for device connected when the DVAP complet...
