You really are on a hiding to nothing looking to extend the range of a 10mW hotspot past a couple of hundred meters. A better option would be to use a GD-77 hand held as a 3 or 4 watt wide area MMDVM node/ hotspot/ gateway running in to an external antenna which would give you a more selective Rx an...

USB WiFi dongle recommendations...
I have been given some raspberry Pi 1A+ boards which work great with the MMDVM and DV-Mega HATS.
However they have no on board Wi-Fi so I am looking for a WiFi dongle to put in the USB socket that will have native support from the OS .
Any recommendations ?

Follow on from the original post, I have a Pi A+ and it does not seem to boot from either the standard image or the image for the Pi B+ . Is there some difference in the hardware that stops either image booting ? The A+ boots and works fine with the New Raspbian image so it does not seem to be defec...
