Re: Is Pi-Star dead? No releases for 12 months
Just for the sake of security, the publicly released version should be running the current (or at least recent) base OS version. Having pi-stars sitting on people's home networks with a ton of vulnerabilities is not good. Especially when the built-in update button isn't able to effectively patch ...

Re: Reflector linking problem
Make sure the time on the Pi is accurate. The "clock" on my Zero W runs slow even though I leave the hotspot powered on 24x7 and if its time drifts too far, reflector linking/unlinking on the admin screen stops working until I SSH into the hotspot and set the time so it's current.

Re: Pi Zero Install time?
Thanks, Ill try that. I was just curious as to how long it can take, will redo the whole process.

A Pi Zero (not a Zero 2) is a slow, low-resource computer with IIRC a single processor core and 512Mb of RAM so it can take 5 minutes or longer for it to expand the file system on ...

Re: New releases
My own experience with the 4.3.0 Pi-Star beta (Bookworm version) is that it runs at adequate speed on a Pi Zero W v1 hotspot, though I've had an issue with it not applying configuration changes, though others with Pi Zero W hotspots aren't having that issue. Meanwhile, the recently released Pi-Star ...

Re: 4.3.0 Beta feedback
I decided to give 4.3.0 one more test today. I ran sudo raspbi-config in an SSH shell and let it generate all locales, which took 5 hours on my Pi Zero W. Then I set my time zone to Asia/Manila. Back in Pi-Star I selected the same time zone and saved the configuration changes successfully. Next, I ...

POCSAG/DAPNET transmitter
I've been playing with POCSAG and DAPNET in Pi-Star on my little Chinese-made MMDVM simplex hotspot (based on a Pi Zero W with a generic STM-32 DVM GPIO hat) and have been having great fun with it even though I don't have a pager yet (I ordered one from China but shipping's delayed due to the ...

Re: 4.3.0 Beta feedback
For some other reference (compared to above) Andy, I flashed yesterdays image, restored my backup, reset passwords, APRS, TZ and keyboard and all works great!
The question is, do you have the same hardware as I do, and do you also have YSF, YSF2DMR and POCSAG with DAPNET enabled and configured ...

Re: 4.3.0 Beta feedback
First, Andy, I want to thank you for your continuing support and development of Pi-Star.
There seem to be multiple issues that cause Pi-Star 4.3.0 beta to hang when I apply configuration settings.
1. I had to run sudo raspbi-config to set my locale and time zone. My memory's like the old grey mare ...

Re: 4.3.0 Beta feedback
I've tested 4.3.0 Beta on my generic (Chinese) Pi Zero W-based simplex hotspot using two different SD cards and two different downloads of the image, one from just a few minutes ago.. It always hangs at the "Stopping services and applying your configuration changes..." screen whenever I click an ...

Re: 4.3.0 Beta feedback
4.3.0 is so painfully slow on my Pi Zero W simplex hotspot that I can't tell if it works or not. Changing anything in the configuration and clicking apply takes several minutes to stop services, apply changes, and restart services. Sometimes the services never restart at all and it just hangs. I ...
