Re: D-Star reflector link drops out after a few seconds...

Thanks for the input. The problem exists in three locations: Home - where there is a Mikrotik router and a wireless ISP (20Mbit/s down, 1.2Mbit/s up), alternative location (London) where we have a standard consumer (not BT) router and ADSL (14Mbit/s down, 1.5Mbit/s up); and our boat where we have a ...

Re: Turn off read-only fiile system??

Thanks for the input - based on what I have read there is no need to consider the risk issue - its just too complicated for my simple purpose, especially if I later have to update to a new version. Having read that post I am minded to put in a USB drive for the boinc client to use. It can do what it...

Turn off read-only fiile system??

Folks, Is it possible, and if so is it dangerous, to set the pi-star such that the file system is no longer read-only? The reason for this is that I want to run boinc-client in the background on my system but it is failing to start, in all probability because the file system appears to be full. In t...

D-Star reflector link drops out after a few seconds...

Folks, I have a DVAP (updated with latest firmware so thankfully no Tx-on crashes any more) running on a Raspberry Pi Zero with Pi-Star 3.4.17 fully updated. My default D-Star reflector is set to REF001 C. However, that NEVER links on boot or restart. So I have tried linking to reflectors from the P...

Re: External antenna...???

Thanks for the reply - yes, there is not sufficient room for even a nasty ceramic filter on the board so that is a sensible deduction. I have a spare cavity which should cover such out of band emissions - one of three formerly used in a repeater diplexer. I'd presume that the 50dB bandwidth is aroun...

External antenna...???

Anyone got a clear reason why these small hotspots should not be used with an external antenna? Is this an emissions issue or a licensing issue? If the former, I have a 70cm cavity that would be quite a narrow filter and clean up any significant in-band and all out of band spurious emissions so woul...

Re: Pi-Star does not show being connected to reflector

Further update... After rebooting the pi-star unit (RPi Zero + DVAP) I link to REF001C - no problem. After 5-10 minutes the radio announces "linking to REF001C" - the link has dropped. I can then link to REF001C After 5-10 minutes the radio announces "linking to REF001C" - the link has dropped. I ca...

Re: Pi-Star does not show being connected to reflector

I'm still getting this problem intermittently. Current set-up at this location is a Raspberry Pi Zero with DVAP running 3.4.17 (updated today, believed to be the latest release) and an IC92D set for repeater mode with zero offset. On starting up I can switch between, e.g. REF001C (default), REF005A ...

Re: Dynamic location??

Andrew,

Thanks for the update. I fancy putting my hotspot on my boat or in my car - link is over 3G/4G and works generally inshore or on motorways (as appropriate). I look forward to this feature arriving in a production release in due course.

Cheers,

Ian

Update/Upgrade fails with error...

Folks, I get this when trying to update my pi-star from the internal web page: Fatal: unable to access 'https://github.com/AndyTaylorTweet/Pi-Star_Binaries.git/': Could not resolve host: github.com The pi-star system is running alright so I don't believe that this is a DNS error (at least at my end)...
