That's all it takes -- I flashed the latest DVMega firmware onto the Atmel chip that was on a "spare" Arduino Uno, put that chip onto my DVMega, and now it's happy to be on the upper frequency range.

Update: it does! I flashed an Arduino Uno's chip with the new DVMega firmware, swapped chips, and everything's now working beyond the 440.0 frequency.

Mystery solved! Guus confirmed: I'm afraid that i have send a batch to Gigaparts with a limited QRG from 430 - 440. Normally the radio should be useable up to 450. With new firmware you can use the DVMEGA outside 430 - 440. Did you ever update the firmware ? For what it's worth... the DVMega that I ...
