When you do get the Hotspot updated to the latest firmware level (1.4.17). You may need to change the frequency to stay out of the Satellite band. 438 is right on the edge. Verv1.4.12 has this change in it. I don't know if there's anything in the MMDVM host software that has this same frequency rest...

If you still have the new HS, you might want to try a different Freq. In MMDVM firmware 1.4.12, they made a change to keep HS's out
of the Satellite area of the band (435-438). I see the freq. you choose is right on the edge.

I'm not sure this is your problem, but when I got my DV-MEGA about 2 1/2 yrs. ago, my DV-Mega would some times not show up, especially when I would unplug Hat from the Pi.
