Re: Unable to Switch Back to 'rpi-ro'
I actually got in touch with the guy. He told me that what I heard wasn’t entirely accurate. He got fed up with the fact that there was no resolution to the issue so he ended up building his own image. He refused to use Pi-Star with his repeaters for this reason alone. I guess when you’re using it t...

Re: Pi-Star Remote
Is there an equivalent for GETIP with DMR or any of the other modes? Any plans to add additional capabilities? Being able to get an audio or text report on what network(s) you’re connected to, talkgroups/reflectors you’re connected to would be great! Thanks again for everything you do! Sent from my ...

Re: Unable to Switch Back to 'rpi-ro'
Has the root cause for this been identified yet? This is actually a VERY serious issue! If the file system is left in a read/write state, it significantly increases the potential for file system corruption if the device isn’t properly shut down. Tanking the power cable is one of the worst things you...

Re: SSL Support
Bubbling this up to the top of the list. It made it WAY too far down the list and I’m shocked there haven’t been more votes for this! I’m a security engineer by trade and I’m constantly evangelizing the need for encryption everywhere! It’s ironic that Pi-Star supports SSH for encrypted command-line ...

Re: Model 8 - Observed Issues
Not a problem! Apologies for assuming you could add the setting using the expert editor. I posted my last response while I was sitting at a traffic light and didn't want to type out the steps for doing it via the command-line!
Thanks to N3MNT for the assist!

Re: Is Your Display Shutting Off?
FYI - I posted this earlier and didn't think to provide the necessary steps to add the settings to the appropriate location. 1. SSH into your Pi-Star system 2. Issue 'rpi-rw' to switch to read/write mode 3. Change to the /etc directory 4. Make a backup copy of the mmdvmhost file in your home directo...

Is Your Display Shutting Off?
If so, there’s nothing wrong with it so don’t panic! :-) It’s just sleeping. There’s a “feature” (poorly documented) that shuts off the display when there’s no activity. You’ll need to add an attribute/value pair in the NextionDriver section of the mmdvmini file: SleepWhenInactive=0 Then reboot your...

Re: Model 8 - Observed Issues
The display shutting off is due to a new option that was added to the display driver but wasn’t documented clearly enough that people would pick up on it right away. You’ll need to go to expert mode and add the attribute and value pair to the mmdvmhost file. SleepWhenInactive=0 https://uploads.tapat...

Re: Port Forward
Agreed! Changing the port number is security by obscurity. Anyone with a modicum of talent will find the port open with a simple port scan. Given the fact that nobody (that I've known of) has truly tested these systems to ensure they are as close to bulletproof as possible, I would never expose the ...
