Whether or not you need to update your firmware depends on which version of firmware your board is on. When using MMDVMHost (which is a core component of Pi-Star) DVMEGA must be on 3.07 or higher to use DMR and 3.14 or higher to use YSF. The wire jumper needs to be soldered to a different GPIO heade...

That's strange because Pi-Star should normally have all the space it needs on a 4 GB card, but you could try expanding the root partition:

Oh, and one more thing: once you get on the most recent version, you'll find a new "Upgrade" link in the Expert Editor, which will make things simpler going forward.

Updating and upgrading are two separate processes. Running a Pi-Star Update from the dashboard (or via the automatic overnight updates) updates the dashboard binaries, and hostfiles.
