Re: OpenGD77 - Repeater
A quick update. Things in the OpenGD77 hotspot mode are stabilizing nicely. CWID is implemented as is the "CAST" style of display of things like the node's IP address on the GD77 radio's display. I've been operating for a long time at 1 watt of output, and have just increased the node to 2...

Re: OpenGD77 - Repeater
The main problem with trying to create a duplex repeater out of a pair of Tier 2 capable OpenGD77 hotspots is the hardware synchronization needed between the receive and transmit radios. There isn't a convenient way to perform that synchronization, and no really possible way to do it with the connec...

How Is legal CW ID CWID implemented on MMDVM HS Hats
How is legal ID implemented on HS Hats running MMDVM? I do hear legal ID after an appropriate interval where no incoming voice data is being handled by PiStar. Even with a shorter setting, the ID isn't necessarily being emitted according to FCC requirements. They require that the ID be transmitted i...

Is "Talker Alias" adequate for legal ID in the USA
Does anyone know if the "Talker Alias" data embedded by VOIP infrastructures like Brandmeister during an incoming group ID call could also considered a valid and legal ID in the USA? Each incoming transmission by the VOIP infrastructure contains the call of the incoming caller as configure...

Re: The OPenGD77 Hotspot identity has changed
As this is still in a bit of flux, the firmware authors will create a PR for PiStar when they have stabilized the naming. Thanks! Marc

The OPenGD77 Hotspot identity has changed
With the 2020/01/09 version of OpenGD77 firmware, the identity of the hotspot it returns to PiStar has changed. New modes are being worked on. As the firmware is stabilized, the authors will prepare a final PR for PiStar.

OpenGD77 Identity has been Updated
I'm working with Roger and Daniel on OpenGD77 hotspot development. In recent revisions of the OpenGD77 hotspot mode, the authors have changed the identity of the device that is returned to PiStar during initialization. This relates to support for different controlling modes (MMDVM and BlueDV). Here'...
