Re: RPi 4B for MMDVM hotspot...Am I nuts?
Probably the easiest route would be to clone the drive from your working system (using Pi-Imager) and insert it into your second system, bring it up and then reconfigure it so you don't duplicate hostname and frequencies and go from there. Trying to start over from scratch is/would be more involved/...

Re: Old Zum MMDVM on a new Raspberry Pi4/B ??
Problematic?!? I have several "20-pin" hats that function exactly the same as the 40-pin hats. The center block of 20 pins are effectively "inert" - they aren't used by the circuitry on the HAT in any way. My guess is the 20 pin versions are simply a design/manufacturing decision...

Re: Incorrect time and date
Thank you for confirming my suspicions/conjectures here! But as a warning, changing the IP address isn't a permanent fix: your hotspot may "de-sync" down the road (and may go unnoticed if it happens while you're running), so you may have to repeat the "fix" again at some point. T...

Re: Incorrect time and date
Possible but doubtful. Does your external IP address change when you change routers? Do the external DNS server IP addresses change when you switch routers? Did your ISP assign/suggest those DNS addresses? Can you change them to something else (i.e. will your ISP let you do that)? But first, try thi...

Re: Old Zum MMDVM on a new Raspberry Pi4/B ??
A pi-0 form factor HAT can be used on the larger PI-2/3/4's without problems, except to note that the larger form factors do not provide support on all four corners of the HAT so care must be take to not torque the HAT too much as all it's physical support depends on its GPIO connector. You can boos...

Re: Incorrect time and date
Raspberry Pi's do not have a native, onboard clock (RTC) that maintains the time/date between power outages. It "fakes" the clock by saving the current time/date values when powered off and restoring them when you come back up. It's the job of the operating system (not Pi-Star) to resync t...

Re: PiStar HotSpot question
No. Just reconfigure your existing HS to use DMRGateway. This gateway incorporates, can interconnect multiple networks, including Brandmeister and TGIF. There's lot of docs out there showing how this is done. Here's one example <https://brara.org/BLOG/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/configure-a-pi-star-h...

Re: PiStar HotSpot question
Brandmeister is world-wide; you can connect to any Talk Group in the US or UK or elsewhere, all from one hotspot.

Re: Pi-Star dashboard is not "Listening"
If the dashboard is blank (the TRx line in the "Radio Info" panel is blank), then you are not connecting to the attached MMDVM board. Go to the Configuration panel, then to Expert, then to SSH. Enter the command "sudo pistar-findmodem". What do you get? If it comes back with a va...

Re: pi-star and ipv6
There is no regression here: Buster (and Bullseye) versions of Pi-Star support IPV6! https://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/538478/enable-ipv6-on-debian-10-if-there-is-no-proc-sys-net-ipv6-folder Run these commands: sudo modprobe configs; zcat /proc/config.gz | grep CONFIG_IPV6= sudo modprobe -c |...
