Is it possible to make this standard 3.5 inch LCD screen also work on Pi-star? Now I see only white clear image without any info.

Don't know about your hardware, but it sure couldn't be used on my system... My DV-Mega board plugs into/and covers the same pins this display looks to use. (I'm presuming it works on a 3B/3B+ even though the display doesn't use /all/ the available pins).

Yes, but I'm afraid it won't display what you are thinking it will. In other words, it won't display the same info or work as if it is a Nextion display. It will work just as if you plugged your RPi into a monitor(plus also act as a touch input screen), and then if you wanted a GUI you'd have to install all the packages needed to convert a CLI based raspbian into a GUI one. I saw a script somewhere that did all that work for you and would automatically display the dashboard on a monitor, but I don't have the time to find it right now, plus it was still a work in progress from what I gathered. You would also have to follow the instructions that come with the board to install and setup the RPi to load the specific overlays it needs to make the display functional as a monitor.

I saw here https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/view ... p?t=143581 that installing the old drivers on Jessie wasn't recommended anymore, so I only assume that is the same for Stretch and Buster. You haven't mentioned which Pi-star version you are trying to get it to work on so I don't know if that helps at all, but either way take a look at the install instructions that come from your board creator and you should be able to get it working.

Now that I think about it again, I'll bet that the reason it is displaying only a white screen is because there is no xserver installed on Pistar. You are kind of cart before the horse. If you booted a normal desktop GUI version of raspbian and then ran the display install instructions, it would probably work fine.

Also, it looks like it shares some of the GPIO pins that a modem would use, so I don't think you are going to be able to get it working with a modem connected to the GPIO at the same time, but if you have a modem that can be connected by USB, I don't see why it wouldn't work.

I finally found that script I was talking about. No idea if it still works, so word of warning, this thread is pretty old.

I think it would be pretty neat to see it working on a hotspot, or even just a regular RPi.
