I have Pi Zero W Rev 1.1 (Pi-Star:3.4.17) hotspot.
FW Pi-Star:3.4.1

is it possible to update Pi-star 3.4.17 to 4.1.1 by update from command mode (SSH session)?

No. You can only update to the latest release in that series. In the case of 3.4 that would be 3.4.17.

Moving to a new release series needs the newer release downloading and burning to the sd card.

You'll find it at pistar.uk/downloads

Pistar.uk/download 4.1 release build supports raspberry pi foundation boards. To date there has been no futhur development for the other SBC's, they still stand at 3.4.17

The image and support hasnt been written for the other boards. If you have anything but a raspberry pi, your currently stuck at 3.4

Vers. 5 is the new dashboard build, which is still very much under developement.
