Wireing MMDVM_HS_HAT_DUPLEX , orange pi zero ?

Post by oh5bzr »

Wireing MMDVM_HS_HAT_DUPLEX, 2018 v.1.0 , orange pi zero ?

Is there wireing diagram anywhere?

Or what pins pi orange zero image is useing and
should match MMDVM ?

While purhasing orange pi i did not relized
pin arragment is lot diffrent!!

I have only one connector connected and other
is not due orange-pi connector is very short.
I'am assuming that's needed only for updateing
mmdvm?

I get after power up:
-screen scrolling MMDVM
-it connect's to brandmeister and registres station as repeater (wanna have hotspo), and drops out
-it shows tcxo 14 and HS HAT 1.4.7 version ,.. so I assume pi-star talk's correctly to mmdvm
-CVS is blinking at MMDV
- nothing at log's if powered you can see dashboard http://oh5bzr.hamshack.info/pi-star/

This I know:
Pi-orange zero vs. rasbery pinouts: https://kaspars.net/blog/orange-pi-zero-gpio
I have mmdvm https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000615 ... 4c4dJpYaR5

have tried:
-to find mmdvm schematic to solve out what pins realy needed
-some documentation is there difrences how pins are used pi-orange image !

Simplex Hat.

Dual Hat

There is a pdf file accessible from these pages with the schematic details.

Thanks ! Based schematics only one hat interface header, whit pin 1, is needed to be connected, needed signals are TX RD SDC SDA,... so secconnector is useless ?

And it look's device is working,... have not radio here so can not test it yet but trafic is goining. Trx is blank and when signal heard it say's Listnening,...that's bit confuseing.

Thank's for schematic link, i realy tried to find but could not find from so many files !

You need the pins on the second connector for flashing new firmware.

You don't need to have the second connector connected to anything for the hat to function correctly as a hotspot. The second connector has connections that are used for triggering the hat to go into bootloader mode so that it is ready to accept a flash.

If the hat circuit design was designed with jumpers you could manually force the bootloader mode and then flash it properly while still leaving those lines disconnected.

Another issue is the orange pi appears to have only a 26 pin header identical to the RPi 1 A/B. It is missing GPIO 20 and 21 so there isn't a corresponding GPIO 20 and 21 you could connect them to and get things to work without editing the scripts to an unused GPIO. Then every time there is an update you would have to modify the script again. Since firmware updates are not something that happens very frequently in my opinion it just isn't worth the time to bother with it connecting those lines.
If someones previous actions are any indication of their future actions, then I predict the deletion and removal of access will happen at any moment. 7-11-2020.
