Disappearing Nextion Driver

I successfully installed the driver but have found, if I check periodically the Expert MMDVM page, that /Dev/NextionDriver is gone from the appropriate Nextion section field and is replaced with USB or something else. This disables those functions that rely on the driver. I change the variable back but a few boots later, it happens again. I run the Driver Checker script that comes with the installer and it says everything is fine. Please help...
