Are you sure you programmed the Nextion screen correctly? For more info about that, Rob van Rheenen, PDØDIB, has posted some great instructions on the Nextion Ham-Radio Screens  Facebook group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/Nextion/

Hi Toshen, unfortunately im not on facebook for personal reasons but i have a nextion file on the screen that i was using on another hotspot and thought i would use the same screen to try out with the dvmega but no information i.e callsign/dmr id,time.WLan information or callsigns etc can be displayed but it works with a usb TTL connected to the pi,i was led to believe that the pins on the dvmega would pass the information to the screen.....there must be a procedure somewere that i havent done ?

I avoid FB as much as I possibly can, but share links to it because I know a lot of people use it. I wish there was a file section to this forum.

Rob has documentation on GitHub that may help: https://github.com/PD0DIB/Nextion_HAM-radio-screens

From a quick look online, it seems you may need to use a USB to TTL UART Serial Converter, but maybe someone more knowledgeable knows an alternative method.

Ok Toshen thanks for all the info i shall press on and see what happens if nothing then back to using the TTL it would have been nice to box it all away and not have a usb wire and TTL trailing along side and just having the nextion soldered to the DVMEGA hat
best wishes

I don't think you can use a Nextion screen directly wired to the DVMega. You can directly wire an OLED screen because it uses different pins. The DVMEGA and the Nextion use the serial port on the GPIO for direct wire. There's only one serial port so you can't use DVMEGA and Nextion at the same time on those pins. You can connect the Nextion to the USB port but you need a USB to TTL level converter.
