Nightly host file over-writes

Post by W2SJW »

Guys,

I had been told by a few that this had been corrected, but last night I put my brand-new duplex hotspot on my group's HBLink input to the C-Bridge via the 'custom' section of the DMR_Hosts.txt file.

I woke up this morning to find the same issue I had 5 months ago was still in play - the DMR host window had only the IP address in it, and when I looked in the host file, the custom master entry was completely gone.

Is there any way to stop the hosts files from being over-written every night? With the way they've been 'borking' the BrandMeister US masters 'on the regular', I really want to take advantage of the C-Bridge option.

Thanks in advance...

Put it in the file in /root, that is used to append to the host files and is the correct way to do this.

Andy,

Thank you, sir!

I've been editing the one in

Code: Select all

/usr/local/etc/DMR_Hosts.txt
I went in via SSH & saw the ones you just mentioned...

Indeed the ones in /usr/local/etc/ are manhandled by the scripts, all the customisation should go in /root versions.

I still have some work to do on the D-Star host files too - I'll get to those real soon.....

I have searched the forums, but can't find anything directly relating to YSF updates.

Q. How to stop YSFHosts.txt from being overwritten with nightly updates.

Created and added a /root/YSFHosts.txt and FSCHosts.txt files with my edited versions. Also replaced the ones in /user/local/etc with modified versions. Woke up, it's been overwritten. Was there ever a final resolution for this. Especially with YSF overwrites?

May I know have any update for /root/YSFHosts.txt ?
Because my friend was build YSF reflector and he want for private use (people who add reflector info on their mmdvm manually) not list on others

So we need to override function for YSFHosts.txt like
Six files locale on /root
DCS_Hosts.txt
DMR_Hosts.txt
NXDNHosts.txt
DExtra_Hosts.txt
DPlus_Hosts.txt
P25Hosts.txt

Thanks

I added a file to /root and named it YSFHosts.txt
Added a line for a custom room but I do not yet have the correct syntax
However
I ran the HostFileUpdate script and it promptly added my new room to the /usr/local/etc/YSFHosts.txt file

Now I just need to find the correct syntax for the /root/YSFHosts.txt file
Should find it ok with a little experimentation
