The key for me was running Pi-Star Update in order to get on version 20190127.

I set my radio up as follows:
Mode: DR
Shift: Plus
Offset: 0.00
UR CALL: GETIP
RPT1: KE0FHS B
RPT2: KE0FHS G
MY CALL: KE0FHS

After transmitting, I had to wait quite a bit, but finally the text with my IP address arrived on my radio.

Once you issue a "Service Kill" command, the "Service Start" command can not be read by Pi-Star. Under what settings will the "Service Start" command work?

Service Kill - this is an RF kill-switch for repeater keepers, there for them to cause the repeater to go offline and stay down.

Service Start is actually Service Restart, its there to cause the services to restart from the radio, so this would work any time you didn't kill the service first.

Hope that helps.

Svcrstrt restarts the services used by pistar without restarting the pi or the OS

If implementing the Pi-Star Remote commands on your radio for use with your hotspot, KE0FHS has a good explanation here -- https://amateurradionotes.com/pi-star-n ... #watchdogs -- on how to set up the reboot and other commands.

However, for my TYT MD-UV380 and probably other radios, there is one more step to be done.

The reboot command fails unless you uncheck the "Private Call Confirmed" checkbox on the codeplug's "reboot" Channel Information sheet.

Otherwise, on the hotspot, the DMR logo just shows up on the OLED screen over the rolling MMDVM logo. A ~2 second PTT keypress may be required; the hotspot may not immediately reboot.

Yeah same goes for any instance of using private call feature.

Never confirm the private call before pressing PTT.

Andrew, can the values for the UR field be anything we want or do we have to use the defaults?
