add pistar

Post by W1KGK »

How do i add pistar software to my Raspberry Pi 2 with stretch already running other stuff??

I don't want to change Memory cards to do it if possible.

That's not how it works. Pi-Star is a complete image, including the elements of Raspbian that are needed.

It will be easiest for you to burn/boot/configure the Pi-Star image and then install your "other stuff" packages (or compiled source) on top of it.

Easier, maybe. But remember Pi-Star is always in a Read Only state - that may cause all his other stuff to fail.

with the price of a RasPi0w or a RasPi3+ if you want a full size, why not just buy a second Pi for the Pi-Star?

It's easy to disable the read-only nonsense.

I am in the process of doing what the OP wants...

Grafting in the libraries and adding the Pi-star panel in a terminal window should not be difficult.

Is there an SDK or a Github site with all the needed files?

Thanks,

Much of what is needed is in my gitHub repos, but we're not going to support this, there are many changes to the OS that other parts of the system rely on, we deliver the image and not an install script for this exact reason.

*EVENTUALLY* this will get more simple - but we're not there yet.
