Don’t know what to do next

Post by G6KEE »

I have an Icom 5100e and a raspberry hot spot running D-Star, I have set every thing up and can link to a reflector, the reflector confirms to me that I am linked.

Although I hear the reflector automated messages, confirmation of link and the time and can even do an Echo test I have yet to hear anything and no one returns to my calls!!!

I cannot help but think it is a problem with the radio settings but what setting I have no idea!

I would be grateful for any assistance as I have run out of ideas🤨

Thanks for your reply

I have watched the Video a number of times and am unable to see any difference between my settings and those shown in the Video

1. Set the radio to DUPLEX mode (- or + it does not matter) This is correct in my Radio
2. Set the duplex OFFSET freq. to 0.00hz This is correct in my Radio
3. Setup RPT1 and RPT2 fields with callsign and module / gateway

This correct in the Gateway and on my radio, in DV Repeater set up I use for the Hotspot, it shows the following, is this correct?

Call sign G6KEE B
Gateway Callsign G6KEE G

4. Set UR field to either CQCQCQ, USE REFLECTOR or USE REPEATER This is correct in my Radio

My set up is probably made more difficult having never seen a demonstration of D-Star

I think I have sorted it

Call sign G6KEE B was only 7 characters not 8, I understand it should be 8, I have just heard my first US station via the reflector. :D

One needs to be a registered D-Star user before one can Tx to a reflector or gateway. G6KEE doesn't appear in either the D-Star database (e.g. http://pistar.uk/d-star_regcheck.php) or qrz.com.

You previously indicated My/RPT2 as G6KEE B/G. Those 2 fields in addition to RPT1: also require a D-Star registered call sign.

But only if your running dplus. (REF reflectors)
The alternative protocols / networks don't require a registration.

The OP clearly indicated that (s)he was linking a reflector.

A reflector. Yes, but not which reflector/ protocol.
So as said. Not all reflectors require a person needs a registration.
