Installing macchanger on pi-star

Hi,
I thought I might ask this before I try.. maybe someone will tell me not to waste my time.
I have a couple of hotspots (pi zeros) and I have one using an ethernet adapter - no probs.
I'd like to install an adapter on the other one but it has the adapter has same MAC address as the first one.

So I'd like to install macchanger on the hotspot so I can change the MAC address of the adapter.
If I go in via SSH, open the image for writing, download and install the macchanger (linux agnostic) app, will pi-star object in some way and thwart this attempt?
