SD CARD CAPACITY?

Post by nh6bf »

I remember that pi-star stated a minimum capacity of 8gb to install pi-star. Is there an advantage to using a larger SD?

I was not aware of any "additional" software I could run while using a hotspot...so, thank you will buy some good quality low capacity SD micro cards.

I don't remember any of us advocating any particular size card. The installed image runs at around 1.8gb so you could install on a 4gb card should you want to.

I guess logic follows that currently 8gb cards are generally more common today, and now perceived the smallest available, generally.

The extra space may be viable when doing update/upgrade -- providing more space to buffer the downloaded packages as they get installed.

For general R-Pi usage, a larger card offers more opportunity for wear-leveling from temporary file, but since Pi-Star puts such into a RAM disk, that doesn't apply.
