I have an MMDVM board with a type 3 OLED Display which I originally installed on a Raspberry Pi Zero W. It works OK but it keeps dropping off the WiFi.
To combat this I got a Raspberry Pi Model B so I could use an Ethernet connection instead of Wi-Fi. I tried transferred the MMDVM hat over to the Model B and works connecting via Ethernet.
Only problem is the OLED display does not work when the board is mounted on the Model B. If I transfer it back onto the Pi zero the OLED display Springs back into action.
I thought the IO header on both models are identical so cannot work out why the anomaly occurs.
Just wondered if anyone has any ideas?
Thanks.
Dave
OLED display stops working on Pi Model B
Re: OLED display stops working on Pi Model B
You'll need to be more precise...
... the R-Pi Model B came out in 2012, has a 26-pin connector, and has long been discontinued.I thought the IO header on both models are identical so cannot work out why the anomaly occurs.
The R-Pi Model B+ of 2014 has a 40-pin connector.
The R-Pi 2 Model B was 2015
The R-Pi 3 Model B was 2016, the model B+ was 2018
The R-Pi 4 Model B was 2019 (for 1, 2, 4 GB) and 2020 (for 8 GB).
Are you using the very same SD card on both systems, or had you created a new image for the second?

Re: OLED display stops working on Pi Model B
Sorry guys I omitted the correct info by accident the model of the Pi is a 2B.
I did use a new build of the PiStar software on a 2nd TF card. I will try the TF out of the Pi Zero. But I had set the OLD and Modem type identically.

Re: OLED display stops working on Pi Model B
I have a working Dual HAT with OLED display on a Pi 2B using PiStar 4.1.2
It has not needed any unusual settings to enable the OLED.

sudo i2cdetect -y 1
Gives me a device at 3C

Re: OLED display stops working on Pi Model B
I retested the setup again using the same memory card as I use in the pi zero w and it works which is just weird. The card and content is identical to the one I used before only it had not been used with the Pi zero and hadn’t been set up to use WiFi. Strange really.
Main thing is it’s now working.
Thanks again for all your input guys.
