Hello All,
On my old Windows PC's I could use Win32DiskImager to copy the image from my Pi-Star SD card into a file to save on my Windows PC.
How do I do the same on Linux Mint 20. I assume Win32DiskImager will not work on Linux. The Raspberry Pi Image only appears to allow writing to the SD card but Not reading the Image back off the SD card, as far as I can tell, I might be missing something.
Does anyone who is working Linux Mint 20 know how to read the Pi-Star Image off the SD card in Linux?
Thanks
Walter

I use Win32DiskImager on my windows 10 but there is Balena ETcher that does the same thing -- many say to use that. Never worked right for me on Win10 But in Mint, it may work. Just look through your Package Manager for it or google Balena Etcher and go to their website to get help using that.

Re: Saving the Pi-Star Image on Linux Mint 20
I have Balena Etcher on my Windows laptop. Best I can tell it will burn an image to an SD card but it will not read from the SD card and save the image to a file for later use.KE7FNS wrote: ↑Tue Nov 24, 2020 6:05 pmInstall some SD card copier software like
https://www.balena.io/etcher/
and download the linux version (not windows) for your platform 64 or 32 bit.
You can use dd to read it, but for you I would highly advise against doing that as you could end up reading or writing to the wrong device and cause all kinds of problems.
I am looking to an image tool that will read the image from the sd card and create a file to use as a back up to restore the image when needed or to setup another SD card.
Thanks for your comments.

I have that on a Windows Laptop but I'm trying to find resources to do all of these think on Linux Mint so I can get rid of windows. It's looking like there may not be a Linux program for making an image of a Pi SD card.KE7FNS wrote: ↑Wed Nov 25, 2020 7:19 pmIf you have access to windows use this to clone the SD card.
