MMDVM HS DUAL HAT issue

Post by EB2BRA »

Hello everybody,

Let me introduce myself. My name is John, callsign EB2BRA, from Spain.

Well, I have just bought a mmdvm hs dual hat to use as hotspot in my house, but I have a issue that I don't understand.
When I press PPT button, some times the modem accept my call, but others, after press PTT, my walkie said "Repeater not found", but it's imposible because the modem is in front of my.

Maybe, there is a mistake in the configuration.
I don't know what is neccesary to post, so please, could you tell me what information do you need ?
With your help, I'm pretty sure I will fix this issue.

Best regards

Thank you very much for your help.
Its the HT, not the hotspot.
thank you for the clarification of the slang used
You could go into the HT settings (CPS) and adjust the mode to disable it.
I don't quite understand what you mean.
Could you specify it a little bit more?
This is a new world for me and I am learning by reading a lot of information I find on the net.

Thank you for your understanding

Unfortunately, we'd need to know the radio make/model and the software used to program it. While many radios have CPS (that's the "code plug" editor software) based from the same root, they may have renamed some options and features.

I'm not certain, but suspect the option in question might be the "Admit Criteria" (as named for my Tyt radios -- haven't used the Anytone enough to remember what it calls the feature). I could be wrong though and some other feature was meant...

The other bit of advice is also applicable. Make sure your radio is configured for its lowest power output on the channel(s) used with the hotspot. Hotspots tend to be a 0.1 (or even 0.01) Watt, while most handhelds have low power at a full 1Watt. Being near the hotspot when sending could easily overload the hotspot circuitry. Try putting 10-20 feet between the radio and the hotspot.

Thank you very much.
So CPS is "Code Plug Editor". Now, It's clear.

My radio is a DJ-MD5 from ALINCO brand. I will try to look for that option.

About the distance, I'm working to install the HT in the opposite place where I use the radio, it's about 10 meters far away.
And yes, I always use the minimal power.

Best regards.
