Need assistance with getting this to work DMR/MMDVM

Post by ad5qa »

I have the RasPi 3/pi-star/Nextion display and the STM32-DVM / MMDVM_HS - Raspberry Pi Hat (GPIO)
Pi-Star:4.1.5 / Dashboard: 20220115

Detected MMDVM_HS Port: /dev/ttyAMA0 (GPIO) Baud: 115200 Protocol: V1
Modem Data: MMDVM_HS_Hat-v1.5.2 20201108 14.7456MHz ADF7021 FW by CA6JAU GitID #89daa20ABCDF502E3F843292000410F

This use to work until I flashed and config from scratch. Now it seems to all look good but wont receive/transmit. I havent reprogramed my AnyTone 878UV from when it worked so the radio end is ok. I have a non digital and keyed up and heard the sputter of digital over so kind of ruled the AnyTone out at the moment.

Running the pistar-mmdvmcal and setting the frequency, put in carrier mode and transmit. nothing, i hit the spacebar to stop and a very quick signal is received on both. I hit the spacebar multiple times and repeat the quick transmit. hmm. is this normal?

In the admin the radio info does not change when I transmit on the AnyTone.

Video of the mmdvm and around 2 second mark you see the MMR LED light up that is when I transmitted on the AnyTone. Was on the Star Parrot group.

(Dont mind the pans in the kitchen noises...)

Is there any troubleshooting steps or misconfig I have to work thru?

Update: flashed the hat with sudo pistar-mmdvmhshatflash hs_hat
when I tranmit on the AnyTone nothing happens and the admin radio info Trx is white with no text. Tx/Rx,FW and TCXO all good.

It is clearly transmitting but no tone.

UPDATE I moved the frequency using the F/f to 433099000 and tuned to the digital signal. Now to figure where to put that offset

One last question. Looks like it may be an offset. I used my hack rf (not calibrated) and dialed to 432987000 and here when I transmit you clearly hear the 1031 Hz test tone then garble.

https://youtu.be/B2Bpb0l-9vY

Also looks like this board I can get from amazon but will look at alibaba and a few other places. It looks similar so probably chinese knock offs.

Might be worth it to buy from the US but will probably pay 150% import fees. lol
