Link to Yaesu room via repeater or node

Hello.
I am planning to link my Yaesu room with YSF or DMR.
I'll be using a MMDVM hat on a Pi for RF link putting that setup near the repeater or node.
I'd like to know if that is possible before risking getting One for nothing.
If I use the node option, I assume ti will work because is not much different than talking on hotspot with ftm100d. Am I right?
