NXDN Reflector?

Hello All, I am very new to this digital radio world. I have a DX-Mini Duplex hotspot in operation with a Kenwood NX-210G radio working great so far.
How would I go about connecting to my friends DMR repeater? I have seen talkgroups on NXDN that are linked to DMR talkgroups. Is this something that I can attempt as well?

Thanks,
Lloyd

Based upon the dashboard, the software supports using a DMR radio to cross-link to NXDN systems. It does not have a NXDN link to DMR.

The available links are (local radio to network system):
  • DMR to NXDN
  • DMR to YSF
  • YSF to DMR
  • YSF to P25
  • YSF to NXDN
{And nobody want to talk to D-Star :lol: }

Hello!
I just got my feet wet, with a ZUM spot, and trying to get the NXDN settings to operate.
WiFi is running, I am supposedly active on TG65000, RAN 9, but I hear nothing, no access to anything.
This is how i am configured, please ignore the DMR portion though...NOT configured.

Why am I unable to access, or hear anything on NXDN?
I can't see a PTT response if I try accessing, and I am deaf as well.

I must be doing something wrong, downloading my log shows I can not access, and I have performed a few updates as well, still NO JOY!

Thanks in advance for any help...I really would love to see das blinken lights and hear voices..

Hello again...

Here is the last line of my log file.
It states the device can not be opened...why?
E: 2018-12-15 20:44:00.453 Cannot open device - /dev/ttyACM0

What do I need to change/add or modify to eliminate this problem?
I show up on the NXDN reflector, but I believe that simply shows stations that are logged in, not active.

As a wild guess -- you have the wrong "Modem" type selected on the configuration page. On my system (Rpi-3b with DV-Mega) I do NOT have a ttyACM0; I have a ttyAMA0. Alternately, you may have specified a display that is not connected (my configuration page shows [None][ttyAMA0] for display options.

FYI: cut&pasting the status page isn't really useful. The status page relies upon color coding boxes for up/down/unselected, and the color coding does not come through in text.

Thank you for responding.
I have the ZUM spot running on USB, full upgrade and current updates.
The only choice for my module, is the one listed for the ZUM spot with USB.
The WiFi is active, and shows data throughput, but no activity through the gateway, or trying parrot, for testing.
I hear nothing, and no PTT indicators light when I transmit..

I have no experience with this setup, so I am doing as much research as I can to bring me current.
Could the voice bandwidth affect operation?
I only programmed it as 'narrow', not 'extra narrow' as CPS allows.
Could this be an oversight, or admission?

I really would love to get this up and running.

Thank you for any assistance you might be willing to lend me!

73!

I can not add an image, the file is too large..
My selection is: MMDVM/MMDVM_HS/TEENSY/ZUM(USB)

No matter which modem I choose, nothing works...
I have the latest updates, the WiFi is 100% operational, and I selected TG65000...still no joy.
No matter what I do, I am not having any luck getting this operational.

I am beginning to think I received a defective unit..
I have never had so much difficulty getting such simple devices to work, until now.

I dont have any experience with the zumspot, but from what i know. Everyone is using RAN 1. Is there a reason for RAN 9?
Also I had to upgrade the firmware to .14 to get NXDN properly working on my hotspot.

For DMR2NXDN crosslinking there appear to be two options to get it working.

- Either set the DMR Master to DMR2NXDN. Use corresponding NXDN talk groups. You'll lose DMR network connectivity though. If you set your NXDN host to 10 - parrott you should be able to make a group call to TG 10 and get your own audio replayed.

- Or set the DMR Master to DMRGateway and then navigate to Expert -> QUick Edit -> DMR GW. Scroll down to DMR Network 3 and you'll see it is named DMR2NXDN_Cross-over. There are some re-write rules for the talkgroups here and it appears they all need to be added to 700000, so TG 65000 would be 765000 on the DMR radio group call. If you set your NXDN host to 10 - parrott you should be able to make a group call to TG 700010 and get your own audio replayed.

Edit - add link to useful Pi-Star page where the talkgroups are listed! https://www.pistar.uk/nxdn_reflectors.php
