NXDN RAN code ?

Post by G1ZRN »

Hi Group,

Is the NXDN RAN code a similar system to the Colour code used with DMR and if so will the repeater reject incorrect codes transmitted to it ?

Thanks,
Mike G1ZRN.

FYI, RAN codes are discovered in this article by the The Connecticut NXDN Amateur Radio Network:

Thanks for the reply.

What I really want to know is, if the wrong or no RAN code is transmitted, does MMDVM host reject the transmission as it does when using DMR ?

Yes, treat the RAN like a DMR colour code or an FM CTCSS. If it's not using the same one as the hotspot/repeater is setup to then your signal is ignored

Thanks for the reply.

That's what I assumed but for some reason it doesn't seem to matter what RAN we select in our copy of MMDVM in pi-star it still goes through even if the radio is not transmitting any RAN code.

I'll have to try the configuration and check I haven't got anything set wrong.

Cheers,
