Only NXDN Startup Host is 65000

Post by KA2Y »

I am at latest update ( a/o around 16:00 EDST 3 June) and the only NXDN Startup Host that appears is 65000. I have tried selecting 10200, none, etc and after hitting apply change it is back to 65000. Also, I cannot hear any NXDN traffic on 65000. ?? This occurs with both DMR2NXDN and DMRGateay.

Sounds like you need to upgrade as well. SSH into Pi-Star, and then:

Code: Select all

sudo pistar-update
After the update completes:

Code: Select all

sudo pistar-upgrade
Run the upgrade command as many times as is needed to get to the latest version. Then you should see all the NXDN startup hosts.

I am at 3.4.15 20180602. Can't update much more than that.

pi-star@pi-star-dvmega(rw):~$ sudo pistar-upgrade
Detected Pi-Star 3.4.15 running on RPi hardware, attached to dvmpid modem...
You are already running the lastest version...
Sleeping a few seconds before making the disk Read-Only...
Finished
pi-star@pi-star-dvmega(ro):~$

Ah, sorry, I read your question too quickly ("the only NXDN Startup Host that appears is 65000"). Now that I've reread it, I understand that you see more startup hosts but can't select them. I don't use NXDN, but did some testing and found I also can't change the NXDN Startup Group no matter what mode I have enabled (NXDN only or DMR2NXDN with DMR master set to either DMRGateway or DMR2NXDN). Possibly a bug?

However, it may not matter. Watch Craig's DMR2NXDN Setup tutorial video:
viewtopic.php?f=15&t=416
According to his video:
When you use DMRGateway as your DMR master, you add the NXDN talkgroups you want to use to your DMR radio with a prefix of 7.
When you use DMR2NXDN as your DMR master, you add the NXDN talkgroups you want to use to your DMR radio with no prefix.
You then pick the NXDN talkgroups you want to use in your radio.

I was using 65000 just fine a couple of days ago - (Before 20180602?) but now, "none" will not stay elected. I have contacts and channels with both 765000 and 65000 and have tried DMR2NXDN and DMRGateway. I hear nothing on 65000 NXDN and no one responds. I have adjusted RXoffset to +225 with my MD-390 and get BER of between 0.1% and 0.4%. I do not think I am actually connected very long anyplace. Every couple of minutes I can make a transmission and get back a "connected to 65000" but still no other folks.

Maybe I just need to go and ignore DMR to NXDN routing. Maybe DStar will win...

It's all really new. Give it a little time to get the kinks ironed out.
