Debugging problems with YSF Wires-X (RF ?)

Post by VE7IHL »

Does anybody have any advice on how to debug problems most likely on the RF side?
I have an RPi3 with an STM32-DVM v1.2 modem board running Pi-star 3.4.12.
When I use a known good Yaesu HT the FT1XDR, it never completes the Wires-X connection.
What happens is the modem hears the Wires-X connect request, and does answer back, but the FT1XDR HT never appears to decode the response.
I have tried changing/setting the transmit deviation, but it makes no difference.

The same HT running to a ZumSpot (on UHF) also running Pi-Star works perfect.

What is the best way to go about trouble-shhoting this type of problem?
Can you run the MMDVMHost software manually from the RP command line to get more denug output?
Is there any extra debug settings that would give a more detialed log file?

Thanks
Lane

YSF is more complex, you may have to adjust the YSFTXLevel in MMDVMHost with Expert menu.
When the repeater replys to send ALL it sends 26 lines of text at once. To make it more reliable copy increase/decrease the YSFTXLevel .
