Does anyone know how to update the firmware for the Micro Node - Nano Spot?
I can't find information on it anywhere but I've been told there is a firmware upgrade available for it.
Thanks,
Ed

You may have to e-mail Mark and ask him for the instructions, although it will show the modem as a "Zumspot", it's not - so the usual "pistar-zumspotflash" doesn't work on those.

Mark is working on new firmware at the moment, I expect we'll hear more about it soon, I do plan to integrate the firmware upgrade once Mark releases the new version(s).

Hi Andy,
Thank-you for the response. I will be waiting to see an update posted on the Micro Node website. Appreciate the help, sir!

Is the firmware different from the pi-star upgrade?

If you want to update and upgrade pi-star see the following:
Do you remember running putty to get into your nano-spot to setup the initial wifi? If so you will do that again.

Then refer to page 17 in this doc: http://micro-node.com/nano-spot_user.pdf

summary:
you need to run: sudo pistar-update (for the dashboard unless you do it from the web interface)
then run: sudo pistar-upgrade (this must be done from putty)
Run the process as many times as needed until the system reports you are on the most recent
version: "You are already running the latest version".

Let me know if you have additional questions.

Yes the modem firmware is a different thing, but posting the upgrade guide is still a good idea :)

The update and upgrade scripts switch to write mode automatically, so you don't need to use the rpi-rw command before running update and upgrade.

This initially stumped me for a few minutes, too. Password isn't actually changed. For security reasons, the Pi-Star backup does not back up the Remote Access Password. So if you changed it from the default "raspberry," because you are using a fresh image, it will once again be the default: raspberry.
