color hex code for the dashboard???

Post by k9ohv »

Hi All,
Looking to re-color the dashboard. I know how to do it, but would like, if anyone has, a schedule of colors for the dashboard? I tried using Color Hex ( https://www.color-hex.com/color-palettes/popular.php), but the color didn't come out right. Therefore i believe, i am not doing it right (big shocker there).

I've made use of this site, which gives a very good representation of what's shown.

OK more details - when you say didn't come oout right, it's like saying: I baked some cookies but they didn't come out right

WHAT didn't come oout right? Did your color appear anywhere? did it not come out at all?

All the values on the CSS page are for different aspects of the page(s). Mine I have the Oragne parts as a dark blue, and the space between sections as a dark grey. Some light colors you may have to switch up the text color from White #000000 to Black #FFFFFF

I had a friend give me three colors, being funny he said violet, green, crimson - I made it for him but Oh Lord was it BAD :-) we changed it back.

Try picking ONE color say #308030 and put as the background color in ONE section only and see WHERE the color changed, then you will know where to put your chosen colors.

Get back to us as to WHAT didn't come out right, then we can help further.

I agree with Kevin ... it all depends on what kind of cookies you want to bake. Here's one I whipped up:

In this above example, I changed Background Banners to the web color royalblue (hex value 4169E1) and the Tables HeadDrop to dark gray (hex value 303030).

A couple other notes:
  • W3Schools.com has a decent color picker: https://www.w3schools.com/colors/colors_picker.asp. And if you search for terms like HTML color picker, you can find other good ones.
  • This is a beta feature. Not all UI colors can be changed, and it doesn't yet apply to mobile view.
  • And when he first introduced the feature, Andy made a good post: "If you took it all too far and now it makes you feel sick," the CCS Tool's Factory Reset button resets the CSS options back to their original settings.

I have done mine in shades of Green. I will show the values I used in the following screenshots:

This is an example of the look:

In a similar styling.
My YSF hotspots are centred on an orange scheme,
DSTAR are blue,
DMR std. PS red.
With crossover modes centred around a green theme similar to above. Now I just need differing shades of blue red and green for the multiples of each I use per mode.

OK, i'm back!

First off, sorry to everyone that replied, i couldn't remember which forum i posted this question on.
SO, my first statement about not turning out right, i though it was pretty straight forward since we are talking about colors. When i plugged in what was supposed to be red, "it didn't turn out right"...Meaning i got a color other than red!

Anyway...

Here is a site that has a better format for finding hex for colors than the one i first looked at. It looks, at first, like a pay site, but its not, it's just an ad. https://htmlcolorcodes.com/color-chart/ Also, If the 1st color palette looks a bit bland, just scroll down and it brightens up quite nicely!

Thanks again to all that replied. Nice color schemes!

Expert Editor CSS Tool

After looking at a number of color code pages, I found https://www.somacon.com/p142.php has a wide variety of colors to pick from.

Configuration > Expert > CSS Tool > Background > Banners

I chose to only change the Background: Banners. These are the colors I have looked at.

0000FF - Blue
000CD - Blue 3
00008B - Blue 4
B22222 - Firebrick
8B0000 - Red 4
228B22 - Forest Green
36648B - Steel Blue 4
8B4726 - Sienna 4
282828 - Sgiverydarkgrey

For the hotspot in the house, for me it is a toss up between Firebrick and Steel Blue 4. For the hotspot in the car, I am using the last color to maximize readability in the daylight. HTH.
