No one can hear me

Post by KC5ULZ » Sat Oct 27, 2018 2:26 pm

Have everything set up per the Youtube guides and can hear folks just fine on different reflectors, but no one can hear me transmit.
Using a TH-D74. I have the shift set to +, with offset of all zeros. I've registered for D-Star successfully, and have tried various reflectors all with same results. Could it be that I randomly picked reflectors that require registration? If so, which ones can I try that don't require registration?

using this hotspot:

How are you selecting the reflector?

You added your node to the D74 D-STAR "repeater" list, I presume, not to the regular "channel" list? (the end of my list looks like

Code: Select all

6	Oceania	73	Guam	147	Guam	AH2G C	AH2G G	Off	Dededo	Guam	146.810	-	0.600	Digital	Off	Off	Approx.	13	31.36	N	144	51.71	E	+12:00	On	On	On
4	North America	51	USA	108	W8	AF6VN B	AF6VN G	Off	Hotspot	DV-Mega	446.250	+	0.000	Digital	Off	Off	Exact	42	56.16	N	85	21.40	W	-5:00	On	Off	Off
{that's in the TSV export version, only two actual lines} -- of course your location, call signs, names, frequency will differ)

On the D74 while in DR mode, hold the cursor-up until the destination menu pops up. Scroll down to "reflector", select... Scroll down to "Link Reflector", select... Press "input"... Select reflector type (I'd say stick with REF), cursor-right, select number (030 is fairly active), cursor-right, select node "C".

You should now have
Link Reflector
Ref030CL
showing on screen.

Press PTT for a few seconds. Pi-Star/hotspot should now send the command to link to that reflector (check the Pi-Star dashboard to ensure it was received).

IF received, D74 cursor up, select "reflector", select "use reflector".

Screen should now show
Use Reflector
CQCQCQ

I think that got me going.
I set it up via the instructions for the radio here:
https://amateurradionotes.com/th-d74.htm#whoops

I just went in and set up like you said and I think I'm being heard now. Was busy at work and not sure if they guys were answering me or someone else.

I am having the same problem, I can hear just fine, no one can hear me. From my TH-D74A I can not change links, no info and no echotest will work. Web and SSH log show receiving RF from me just fine. won't change and again no one can hear me.

I have an OpenSpot as well, it works fine however it must use RPT1:DIRECT and RPT2:DIRECT

I have a new hotspot in my repeater list as follows (* == space):
Name: ZumSpot
Callsign: N2JWC**B
Gateway: N2JWC**G
Freq: 443.100.00
Shift: doesn't matter what I try here
Offset: 0.000.00
TimeZone: UTC -04:00

I have used a few different videos to understand the setup, it looks solid to me.

N2jwc - In the text portion of your message you use a FREQ of 443.100. In your Zumspot config, you use 433.100. Sync those two up.

That was typo. Thanks for catching that.

I did resolve my problem this evening, the only difference was configuring the Zumspot in my D74 using the Kenwood MCP to program. Was able to talk and received great reports.

Thanks!

John
