Icom RP2C support

Post by ZL2BRG »

I've seen reports of pi-star running on systems with a icom repeater stack rp2c rp4000. Wonder if there is any details how this is done.
Cheers

With a little imagination, you'll find https://nw-digital-radio.groups.io/g/ud ... om-ID-RP2C to be useful. Pi-Star doesn't use an X desktop so displaying the ircddbgatewayconfig might be difficult for you, but manually editing /etc/ircddbgateway from the "Expert" menu or ssh editor will work too. You'll also need the "Utility for ID-RPC2" Icom program in order to get the controller network addressing to meet your new needs.

New modem option added "Icom Repeater Controller"
This sets ircDDBGateway to the Icom protocol and stops DStarRepeater from starting too;

Things for you to do, tell the ircDDBGateway what IP address the repeater controller is on; you will need to set
in the ircDDBGateway expert editor: http://pi-star/admin/expert/edit_ircddbgateway.php

Code: Select all

icomAddress=
icomPort=
Where
"icomAddress" is the IP address of the Repeater Controller.
"icomPort" is suggested to be 20000

On the RP2C:
Set Gateway to Pi-Star's IP Address and port to 20000
Set Communications Settings to the IP Address of the Repeater Controller and port to 20000

Firewall script updated to include the required ports to be open, assumes that the RP2C will be on a private subnet (I believe that this is a safe bet).

Still considering how to handle auto-creating the eth0 sub if automatically when required....

I see that the new Icom repeater support stops dstarrepeater. Does this mean there is no terminal and access point support ?

Whilst Dstarrepeater stops running.
Ircddbgateway is still running. It's ircddbgateway that 'talks' with the ICOM controller in this use case not Dstarrepeater.

I have a radio capable of running in terminal/ AP mode but as of yet not made use of that mode, so whilst not fully conversant I thought agn it works with ircddbgateway and doesn't require the use of Dstarrepeater. ??

Hi Andy
According to the DStarRepeater readme https://github.com/g4klx/DStarRepeater/ ... /README.md
It handles the Icom Terminal and access point modes.
Not sure if that is still current though.

Cheers
