I'm using a Pi 3B with DVAP on 144 MHz. Seeing the classic problem - receives fine but cannot talk.
Is anyone out there using the 'V82 successfully with the Pi/DVAP combo?
TIA,
Lee
Can the ICOM IC-V82 with UT118 work with PiStar?
Re: Can the ICOM IC-V82 with UT118 work with PiStar?
Yes it should run. It was one of their early release radios so may not have the features of today's generation dstar radios.
Ist I presume ur running pistar as a dstarrepeater setup. The dvap isn't an MMDVM device So won't work correctly with that setup. Then have a look in the dstar forum at the FAQ posted there. It might help in setting up the radio.

Do you have the Icom programmed to use a 0MHz duplex offset? You can't just use a simplex frequency to use dstar with pistar as the gateway is needed and this is only available when you are using a duplex frequency (like a repeater) however as the hotspot is a simplex device you have to trick the radio into thinking it is going through a repeater hence the 0MHz duplex offset.
So you are using cqcqcq for the to field and the callsign of the hotspot -G for the gateway.
