Reaching XLX/DCS 029C

I wished to access XLX 029C (aka DCS 029C) which is a valid reflector serving the Adirondack region of northern New York State.

Unfortunately Pi-Star would not let me get there except via its web-accessible dashboard, something impossible to do while driving. The command to connect to DCS029C (DTMF "D29C") didn't work because, I realized, there is no DCS entry in the DCSHosts.txt file, only an XLXHosts.txt entry. I didn't try adding a memory to my ID-51 after realizing that the pertinent Hosts file lacked an entry for DCS 029.

So yesterday I added a line for DCS029 to the file "DCSHosts.txt" in /usr/local/etc, and it worked just fine, but unfortunately after the nightly update it was gone this morning. So I added again this morning and again it works fine.

Could someone please add that line to the "master" DCS Hosts file so I don't have to keep adding it each morning? I used to know how to adjust a line in a Hosts file to render it "permanent" but I haven't done so in several years and I've forgotten how... does anyone remember? In any case since DCS029 is a valid entry (it functions, after all) it seems best to add it to the the database.

Thoughts anyone?

If it is truly an XLX you don't need to edit anything. Just access it via the XLX name using your radio. Unless you MUST do it via DTMF.
