Icom 5100A or 9700 Access Point vs hotspot?

Post by W6CJ »

A newbie question:
If I put an IC9700 or 5100A in Access Point mode, how would operation be different than a hotspot (beside wider coverage)?
Would I lose the ability to connect to various reflectors from a a handheld or another mobile.... as I'm doing now with my hotspots?
Thanks and 73,
Jay

You'll still be able to navigate from ur handie through the acess point radio.
But thats a lot of radio ur tying up to do the job of a 50$ hotspot.
