Some RTL firmware missing from Pi-Star v4.1.0-RC2

Post by MW0MWZ »

Looks like some of the firmwares are missing from the Pi-Star v4.1.x images, those are coming back in the RC3 upgrade, I'll release that just as soon as I fix logrotate!

Don't know if you fixed it yet, but it caught me lately with a RPi-2 and RTL wifi USB that works fine normally, but will not load AP mode.

Realtek Semiconductor Corp. RTL8188CUS 802.11n WLAN Adapter

Here is dmesg when I plug in the RTL wifi and it loads up fine with my home wifi:

I am having the same issue with a Pi2 and the rt2800usb dongle. Pi-star version 4.1.4. This same dongle works perfectly on version 3.4.17.

Andy already included the missing files.

Code: Select all

ii firmware-ralink 1:20190114-1+rpt11 all Binary firmware for Ralink wireless cards (dummmy package)
Again this is NOT a problem with the kernel, or missing firmware, YOUR problem is with the AutoAP software and your device.

You'll also notice that it says (dummmy package) which means that file is no longer needed by the OS and can be safely removed.
If someones previous actions are any indication of their future actions, then I predict the deletion and removal of access will happen at any moment. 7-11-2020.
