rasberry pi pings and appears on wi-fi network but cannot conbect

Post by W2VS »

Hello, I recently purchased a jumbo spot rtq and followed all the instructions for connecting to wifi. I did use the tool to add the file to obtain the wi-fi connection and it appeared to work correctly. I added the file to the root directory on the SD card and it "moved" to a different file location when I powered up the hotspot. I understand this is what is supposed to happen.

I ran a network scan and "Rasberry Pi ..." appears with an IP address. I pinged it and got positive results. However i cannot connect to the dashboard when I try to access via http://pi-star. I get a "connection refused error".The local connection did not work either. I also tried some suggested ways to connect given by members here. No luck.

I also connected to my Xfinity router and pi-star appeared as a connected device. It was a 2.4 ghz connection as required.

I get a slow blinking red light on the hotspot which I understand might be a power issue but I have a power supply that delivers the required amperage.

I also reset the router but still could not connect.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated!
Thanks!

Type in the IP address in the browser address bar.

Look in the routers DHCP listing and confirm the IP address.

A slow blinking SVC LED on the hat is the correct indication. On first boot it blinks slowly, and then once the MMDVMHost service has established communications with the MMDVM_HS hat it blinks faster. If you haven't gotten to the point where you connected to the dashboard and set your modem type (which sets the communications method) then that explains the slow blinking LED.

A slow blinking LED on a RPi means something entirely different.

Cheers.

That doesn't seem right to me, but maybe you have a weird router.

Do all of your devices on your network start with 10.0.0? When you did your network scan did it report the RPi as 10.0.0.57???

On your router there should be a DHCP server page, or attached devices, or something to that effect. It should list every device on your internal network and its assigned IP address.

Try using a SSH client like PuTTY to connect to the hotspot using the IP address. If that works then its possible there is something wrong with the webserver and you should reimage the SD card and try again.

Raspberrypi listed as connected device. This the info on the router:

raspberrypi

IPv4 Address
10.0.0.57
IPv6 Address
2601:58c:4204:8120::e493
Local Link IPv6 Address
fe80::4f05:5b14:1ff5:cf4a
MAC Address
B8:27:EB:3B:A5:39
Comments
DHCP -66 dBm Wi-Fi 2.4G

I will try PuTTY next.
Tried "local" and same result- no connection!
Thanks to all for assistance! Much appreciated, I will get there...

unable to connect with PuTTY. Maybe a corrupt SD card?

I don't think so, I think its the network you are trying to join.

Is this a home router, or are you trying to use the hotspot on some kind of work or public wifi network?

Could your router have IP isolation enabled? That stops local devices seeing each other.

Thanks. It is a home router, I have not had any issues connecting any other devices. I will see if IP isolation is enabled.
