New images have been posted that fix the Auto AP issues that began with v3.4.15:
Regular via: http://www.pistar.uk/downloads/ = Pi-Star_RPi_V3.4.16_10-Aug-2018.zip
3B+ Beta via: http://www.pistar.uk/beta/ = Pi-Star_RPiB+_V3.4.16_10-Aug-2018.zip
In my testing, I found that if I updated existing images, that also fixed the Auto AP issues.
What if it doesnt? Im not sure of the previous wifi issues, but i cant get a new install to connect to pi-star-setup.
I have tried 3.4.15 and 3.4.16 and when i put the SD card in, boot the zumspot, I see the ad-hoc SSID, put in the password 'raspberry' it keeps telling me wrong password and simply wont connect.
Hi Ben, since 3.4.16 was released back in August, I have tried this dozens of times with different ZUMspot and MMDVM_HS_Hat boards (simplex and dual) mounted on RPi Zero W, 3B, and 3B+ boards, connecting to macOS High Sierra and Mojave computers, as well as to a Windows 10 laptop, and Auto AP has worked just fine on all of them using the password raspberry.
I saw your other post about this issue, so I just tried downloading a new version of the Pi-Star_RPI_V3.4.16_10-Aug-2016.zip file, burned the image to a new microSD card, and connected successfully to it via my iPad running iOS 12.1.
That leaves me wondering what could be going wrong for you. My only guess--and this is really a guess, since you haven't provided many details--is that maybe you're getting hung up on the second authentication. When you first connect to the Pi-Star-Setup access point, all you need to do is enter the password. But then you have to authenticate a second time to reach the Pi-Star Admin/Configuration pages. In that second authentication, the name to use is Pi-Star (not Pi-Star-Setup), and the password is raspberry.
