Has anyone done this to get additional channels? What tools do you recommend?

Hi Gary,

My immediate response was "buy a UV380" but didn't want to be a wise a.

Upon reflection, that's probably the easiest, most cost effective route. And as a bonus you have a spare battery, charger and programming cable.
