Static and Dynamic TG's

Post by KN4FYR »

This is likely a silly question.

I have a static TG programed into TS1 on my PiStar and it works great. When I key up on TG xxxx, it ALSO says that I have a DYNAMIC TG with the same number as the static one, which seems redundant.

Question: Should that be the case? Should I be communicating with the PiStar on TG 9 or some such local channel?

Seems like I shouldn't have a static AND a dynamig TG connection at the same time.

Thanks and 73!

When I was writing my note about BrandMeister static, dynamic, and auto-static talkgroups, this is the same thing I observed when testing the auto-static behavior: "If the new talkgroup [you key up] is one that you previously made a static talkgroup, it will be listed twice, as a Static talkgroup (no ToolTip when you point at it), and as an Auto-Static talkgroup (displaying an "Auto Static" ToolTip when you point at it)."

So what's the right answer? Is this behavior normal? Are there two data streams, one each for static and dynamic connections? Or is just it a display redundancy? I don't want to be causing connection problems -- I want to get it right.

Any advice is welcome!

Thanks, folks!

My guess is data redundancy and not something to worry about it.

Just asked a BM guy: it's redundant, but it works fine, doesn't cause issue.
