Multiple Static TalkGroups

Post by KC3MLA »

Duplex hotspot with multiple static TGs defined for a TS, and traffic coming in from the net for TGx, now long does TGx have to remain idle (silent) before traffic from another TG?

Is this a function of Pi-Star or BrandMeister?

If there is an idle requirement, it is probably something on Brandmeister's end.

Pi-Star idle timeouts are used when multiple /modes/ are active -- to ensure that one has a chance for responses to a transmission on one mode before it switches to the other mode.

Changing talkgroups within an active mode is just a matter of an identifier in the data packet.

Observed behavior puts the idle time at about 5 minutes.

I suppose I could do a packet capture and see if BM is feeding all static groups and it's Pi-star that selects which one to send out over RF.

The BM dash on their site talks about "slots linked" so it may know if/which time slots pi-star has in use for which talk groups.
