Duplex MMDVM - One Radio for DMR and the other for Dstar: Possible? The use case that I'm contemplating is serving both modes from a single physical device (that being the dual radio MMDVM).

Yeah that'll work, but remember its only one mode at a time. the mode with traffic will always lock out the other.
Also if your actively using one mode transmitting into the hotspot, the other radio (because its a simplex channel) will be receiving the other radios transmission, same for the transmisdions from the hotspot. because theyre running different modes neither will actually resolve a signal from the other but you might see a busy indicator and / or hear garbled audio from the radio thats receiving a mode it cant decode.
