Brandmeister link issue

Post by 4S7EF »

Good morning!

I have a duplex hotspot with a Chinese made MMDVM HAT on a Raspberry PI3B+.

In my DMR/Brandmeister configuration, I use DMRGATEWAY as the DMR MASTER and BM_4501_South_Korea as my BM Master and the BM Network ESSID is *******02

Try as I may (re-entering the passwords in both the Hotspot and BM Selfcare, and resetting the BM API on) I can't get the hotspot to connect with BM. I see the RED icon against my DMR ID on the BM Selfcare page.

On checking the LOG (see below), I see TGIF activity but NO DMR activity as the hotspot is not linked with BM.

However on my Simplex hotspot with the identical DMR settings I am able to connect to BM albeit with the BM Network ESSID ******01

On my duplex I have it also configured for TGIF and that is working.

I have separate BM API Keys for the Simplex and Duplex.

Any suggestions please? 4S7EF

I think I have a solution to my issue.

I have replaced DMR GATEWAY with BM_4501_south_korea as my Master DMR MASTER.

Now the hotspot is linked with Brandmeister.

On my SIMPLEX hotspot, I was going through FULL EDIT: DMR GW and found that the DMR network was NOT ENABLED, for some reason or the other, when setting DMR GATEWAY as the DMR MASTER

[DMR Network 1]
Enabled=1
Address=3103.master.brandmeister.network
Port=62031
TGRewrite0=2,9,2,9,1
PCRewrite0=2,94000,2,4000,1001
TypeRewrite0=2,9990,2,9990
SrcRewrite0=2,4000,2,9,1001
PassAllPC0=1
PassAllTG0=1
PassAllPC1=2
PassAllTG1=2

Now both BM and TGIF are working. :) However the DMR box in Network Status is YELLOW. But traffic goes through!!

Now to do the same on the DUPLEX hotspot.

Works OK with the Duplex hotspot as well after enabling DMR network in DMR GW. :)

Thank you Jason for your inputs which are always very gratefully appreciated. Best wishes 4S7EF

That might be you losing connection to the DMR Master. There should be a DMRGateway log in /var/log/pi-star. I'd look through it and see if you see any errors.
Found it, Should I ENABLE DISPLAY LEVEL it to see the LOG? and where do I see the LOG

I have enabled DISPLAYLEVEL and I am attaching the LOG. For some strange reason despite the DMR NET being yellow in the NETWORK STATUS traffic is flowing both ways.

The system DOES ALLOW me to attach the LOG file

Hi Jason,
Is there an issue here that causes the DMR NET to stay YELLOW but allow traffic sans any packet losses or interruptions.

I don't have this issue with my Duplex hotspot!!

I also observed that if I use TGIF_NETWORK as my MASTER, enter the SECURITY CODE, the DMR NET box turns GREEN

So in all probability it has to be a DMR GATEWAY and/or BM issue.

I will compare the DMR settings in the simplex hs with the duplex hs to see where I may have gone wrong

In Full Edit: DMR GW I have the following;

Simplex

[DMR Network 1]
Enabled=1
Address=4501.master.brandmeister.network
Port=62031
TGRewrite0=2,9,2,9,1
PCRewrite0=2,94000,2,4000,1001
TypeRewrite0=2,9990,2,9990
SrcRewrite0=2,4000,2,9,1001
PassAllPC0=1
PassAllTG0=1
PassAllPC1=2
PassAllTG1=2

Duplex

[DMR Network 1]
Enabled=1
Address=4501.master.brandmeister.network
Port=62031
TGRewrite0=1,8,2,8,2
PCRewrite0=1,4000,2,4000,1001
#TypeRewrite0=1,9990,2,9990
SrcRewrite0=1,4000,2,9,1001
PassAllPC0=1
PassAllTG0=1
PassAllPC1=1
PassAllTG1=1

Do these make any sense? DMR NET is GREEN in the DUPLEX and YELLOW in the SIMPLEX hotspots
