Connecting to remote repeater.

Post by Kb2uet » Sat Jun 09, 2018 6:30 pm

Just arrived in Cancun on vacation.
Brought my ft-70 and jumbospot.
How would I be able to connect to my friends fusión repeater in NY?
Can I punch in his repeater number or do I need to go through wires to get into it.

Any help would be much appreciated.
Thnx in advance

Does your friend's repeater connected to YSF network? If yes, then you could connect to it. If it is on Wires-X, then you're out of luck unless if he has bridged it to YSF network.

Take a look at YSF network registry:

What is the difference between YSF network and Wires-X ??

Thought they was the same thing..

Is there a way to put my hotspot on line as a Fusion something? YSF or FCS?
New to the hotspot thing.

Thanks.

Basically the two are in different networks, Wires-X is the official network by Yaesu. YSF is a reflector based system using Jon (G4KLX) software running mainly on Linux. YSF and FCS are accessible from hotspots. Wires-X on the other hand, can only accessible through nodes and repeaters that are connected to it and requires special interface called HRI-200. There are a number of reflectors that are bridged to Wires-X's room though but you can't jump from one network to the other.
