Can't talk on 31679 talk group via YSF2DMR

I have a strange issue with the YSF2DMR gateway, using a Yaesu FT2DR radio. If I select talk group
31679 (blind hams), I can hear conversations on the group OK, but my transmissions are never heard, I can talk OK on straight DMR in Pi-Star, and I can transmit on other groups that are in the YSF2DMR search list like PARROT (9990) or NY-NJ-PA Tristate (31360). Does the group need to be in the searchable list before you can talk?
