FTM-400 No transmit via Hotspot to XLX Reflector

Post by DJ5UW »

I try to connect to a XLX Reflector from the FTM-400 through a Pistar 3B+ Hotspot V 4.1.0 that is connected to this XLX Reflector.
After pressing the DX Button I can connect to the XLX Reflector and Modul, hear the OM on the other side (who also is using a C4FM Radio connected to the reflector) but when I transmit I can see the Hotspot showning the red transmit Block but there is no signal outgoing to the net. The OM on the other side sees no incoming transmission.

If I do exactly the same with an FT3D or an FT-70D over the same Hotspot, it works without any problems.

Question is: What does the FTM-400 differently than the FT3D or the FT-70D? Is it the Hotspot thats not compatible with the FTM-400

Any ideas are greatly appreciated.

In the pistar log there appears a line when transmitting that says:
YSF, received network data from DJ5UW to ALL at DJ5UW

This line does not appear when I use the FTM-400
It appears when I use the FT-70 or the FT3D

any ideas out there?

Right here, looking over your shoulder as you type :)

I don't have access to an FTM-400 to test with, but its probably best to start by checking the radio settings, make sure its not in 1/2 deviation or something like that, also make sure when you press the PTT its actually transmitting where it is supposed to be, the radios can be set for a fixed Wires-X frequency when using the Wires-X button, or enabling you to use the frequency you are on when you press it.

OOPs,
I thought I heard something from behind my shoulder, it must have been you...
The radio settings are ok, the strange thing is, the radio transmits into the Hotspot, I can hear the audio on a second radio (FT3D) thats connected to the same hotspot but nothing is going out to the net. If I try the same with the FT3D it works fine. Is there an extended log that I can activate to trace whats going on?

thanks Andy

Check the "Live Log" - linked on the admin page on the dashboard, PTT your FT3D and then the FTM-400 and see if the log shows both entries (or not).
You can turn on debug logging if that does not show anything (expert menu, then MMDVMHost)...

If your hotspot is limited to your own callsign (Node type private in the general section on the config page) then make very sure the callsign is the same on the FTM-400 and the FT3D.

Solved: FTM-400 No transmit via Hotspot to XLX Reflector

Post by DJ5UW »

Hi Andy,
Finally you put me on the right track.
Everything between the two rigs is the same EXCEPT: in the FT3D the Callsign is just the callsign in the FTM400 it is Callsign-myname
That blocked the FTM-400

Thanks for your help

Ahh very good - I was worried I would need to buy an FTM-400 to work it out for a moment :)
