Post by KE2SJ »

So far nobody has been able to help me. How do I e
Switch to FCS Reflectors on my FTM-7250? I've looked at the pi-star list of FCS questions
and nothing seems to work. What digjts do I enter to change
To an FCS reflector? Please help! I am stymied.

Using pi-star to switch FCS rooms with the Wires-X feature doesn't work well, but using Wires-X to switch YSF seems to work just fine. Here's an example of what I experience: I activate Wires-X on my radio, enter 00330, hit the button to send the command to switch, and it switches but to room 00240, not 00330.

Using the pi-star software to control the FCS/YSF rooms means you need to configure your pi-star hotspot to do just that. In the configuration tab, under the "Yaesu system Fusion configuration" you need to select WiresX passthrough. This will allow you to use the Wires-X feature on your radio. Once you have this configured correctly, on the 7250, make sure you are on frequency for your hotspot, you press the P3 key to activate Wires. Upon successful connection you will be shown your current connection (Cn) or the last connection (Lc). From there you scroll to the En (EN*-----) where you will enter the room you want to navigate to (such as 00330). After you enter the room number you will press the "#" key to request the connection, if connection is successful you will hear some confirmation beeps and see the room name or room number scroll on the Cn screen. If no connection is made there will be a series of beeps denoting an error. To disconnect from a connected room press and hold the "*" key. You can see and follow these instruction in your manual starting on page 33. A YSF/FCS reflector list is available on the pi-star home page under YSF/FCS Tools.

Hope this helps

Cross posted from an issue that was raised with DMR2YSF;

The actual problem is/was the way that FCS rooms were assigned a number.

There are some static numbers that are internal to YSFGateway, YSF numbers from 1-5 are in use for things like parrot and the YSF2xxx cross-over modes.

All of the YSF rooms have assigned numbers, FCS on the other hand, have no assigned number, they only have an assigned name, this is an important thing to consider.

What was actually happening before the change in YSFGateway, is that the hard coded 5 rooms at the bottom, AND any unlucky YSF room would get replaced by an FCS as the YSFGateway software read the host files and imported all the rooms, wind back the clock far enough and that didn't matter, there were almost no YSF rooms that started under 10000, and only about 300 FCS rooms - life was simple.

Wind forwards again to today, a few things happened, firstly there has been an explosion of registered YSF rooms, partly due to XLX adding in YSF support and many of those becoming registered, and also the FCS group asked us to include their non-assigned FCS rooms as well as the assigned (labelled ones). That was all shaping up to a mess...

So what actually changed...

Now YSF rooms (these actually have assigned numbers remember) get their assigned numeric ID, exactly like they should do, FCS rooms that have no guaranteed number are interleaved into the free space between YSF room numbers, this means that FCS rooms *WILL* change number as the YSF list changes.

Yaesu radios have WiresX mode, using that will allow you to read / search the room list directly from your radio, if you search for an FCS, you will find it and be able to connect. YSF rooms can always be dialed by their ID, its an assigned number so it wont change.
